The chapel of Saint Front

Situated at the end of a rocky spur overlooking the Dordogne, the chapel recalls the legend of Saint Front, apostle of the Périgord, who struck down a terrible dragon, the Coulobre.

It is said that a large snake skin remained visible for a long time on the wall of the nave in memory of the defeated dragon. The dragon's lair is even said to be located under the chapel (cave).

The chapel dates from the 8th century, at least for some of the foundations, and from the 12th century with exceptional Romanesque capitals. It has two entrances, one in front and one on the side. The latter is a pointed arch surmounted by a human head.
