A bit of history
In 1604, the Duke of Caumont La Force decided to build the Château de La Force, which was destroyed in 1793, leaving only the central tax collection pavilion standing and around which the historic town centre developed.
In 1848, another event would transform the town greatly when Pastor John BOST began building the asylum.
The town boasts a rich heritage: a lavoir (wash-house), the John Bost Foundation temple, Doctor Clament's house, the bandstand, church, castle, etc.
You can discover the town via a self-guided signed interpretative trail which will take you from the Pavillon des Recettes (Tax Collection Pavilion) to Pastor John Bost's Asylum.
La Force today
The town has a rich heritage: washhouse, John Bost Foundation temple, Doctor Clament's house, bandstand, church, castle, etc. and an international reputation!
