Queyssac

A bit of history

The site was most probably occupied during prehistoric times as it comprises many vestiges and "cluzeaux", artificial grottos. Most of the houses in the village are historic and built in a typical Périgord style. The village features numerous country houses and holiday homes, a traditional bread oven and an 11th-century church.

Discover Queyssac's entirely renovated market hall and its dovecote. The latter is a fine example of a polygonal-shaped arched dovecote.

Queyssac today

Today the village attracts in particular with its restaurant Le Bistrot du Presbytère which is a huge hit with the local population and visitors. The excellent quality of the bread and gourmet products made at the Fournil de Queyssac are also worth noting.

The village also has two hiking trails: the "Chemin des Orchidées" (the Orchid Trail) and the "Boucle des Hameaux" (The Hamlet Loop); both trails alternate very easy paths and small forest roads where the rare vehicles that will cross your path are highly respectful of hikers and walkers.
