Duras terroir

The rebellious attitude of winegrowers here is rivalled only by their generosity, just like their highly characteristic wines!

Being a rebel involves resisting. Isn't that a necessary quality in winemaking, a trade requiring guts and persistence? The history of wines from Duras is full of headstrong people, like Viscount de Besaume who was at the root of the construction of the proud Château de Duras. But don't get it wrong, the winegrowers' rebellious attitude is matched by their generosity, just like their distinctive, generous wines which come in 4 colours.

The Côtes de Duras regional appellation has been an Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée since 1937.
